Russell Brand has been "dressing as a pirate every day" to get into character for the new "Pirates of the Caribbean" film.

The British comic star - who has previously starred in movies including "Forgetting Sarah Marshall" and the upcoming "Bedtime Stories" - is doing everything he can to secure the part of Johnny Depp's on-screen brother in the fourth film in the franchise.

Speaking about the role, Russell is quoted as saying: "That would be really exciting if that does happen. I hope it does. There has been some talk about it but I think it's in its very early days. But I'm practicing by dressing as a pirate every day - just in case!"

It was recently revealed that Johnny will earn $47 million for appearing as Captain Jack Sparrow in the new movie, the largest upfront payment in film history. More...

Keira Knightley has claimed corsets are the reason women were always considered "the weaker sex."

The 23-year-old actress - who has donned the restrictive undergarments in period dramas including "Pride and Prejudice" and "The Duchess" - says the waist cinchers stopped oxygen getting to the brain, making females seem less intelligent than they were.

She told Hamptons magazine: "It's obvious why women were called the weaker sex, because you can hardly breathe in a corset. It's a fight just to get oxygen to your brain."

Paris Hilton has dumped Benji Madden. Hotel heiress Paris split from the Good Charlotte rocker earlier this week because the pair are "just too different" and have been spending too much time apart.

A friend of Paris told Britain's The Sun newspaper: "He has helped her grow up, but they are just way too different."

"She has spent a lot of time away lately and they have grown apart. She is going to enjoy being single for a while."

Another pal revealed to Usmagazine.com: "Even though they are still in love, they felt it would be better to just be friends. Benji was overprotective and controlling. He doesn't get along with any of her friends." More...

Winona Ryder was rushed to hospital after a suspected overdose while on a flight to the U.K. Wednesday.

The British Airways jet was forced to make a priority landing - 22 minutes before the expected time of arrival - and the "Edward Scissorhands" star reportedly had her stomach pumped at Hillingdon Hospital, West London.

Winona - who is thought to have a fear of flying - is believed to have accidentally taken too many Xanax pills, which are used to treat anxiety.

Her spokesman confirmed the 37-year-old star was fit to leave the hospital later that evening, saying: "She did fall ill on a flight and as a precautionary measure, was taken to a hospital." More...

Kate Middleton is being "hounded" by paparazzi in the same way as Britain's late Princess Diana was, says the coroner who investigated the royal's death.

Lord Justice Scott Baker, claims Kate - the girlfriend of Diana's son, Prince William - receives much the same amount of media attention as Diana did, suggesting the issue of the paparazzi is still a serious one for the royals.

Baker said: "You only have to look at the papers today to see the paparazzi are hounding Kate Middleton in the same way Diana was previously being hounded."

A source told the Chicago Sun Times newspaper: "Scarlett and Ryan are madly in love and want to start a family sooner rather than later. Scarlett is keen to be a young mom and does not plan to be the sort of women who leaves motherhood too late and starts worrying about her biological clock ticking."

Jennifer Garner has obtained a court order against "stalker" Steven Burky.

The 36-year-old actress - who is expecting her second child with husband Ben Affleck - writes in court papers that Burky, who she alleges has been harassing her since 2002, has neared "the point of becoming dangerous and threatening."

She writes: "Mr. Burky has been stalking and harassing me, sending packages and letters containing delusional and paranoid thoughts and following me around the country."

Beyonce Knowles is learning to cook for Thanksgiving. The "If I Was a Boy" singer, who is married to hip-hop star Jay-Z, hopes to improve her culinary skills in time to spend the holiday with her family.
